The California Integrated Waste Management Board (IWMB) is the designated State agency to oversee and manage California’s waste resources generated each year. The Imperial County Integrated Waste Management Board is tasked with ensuing the proper disposal of solid waste within the District. The IWMB sets a waste diversion rate goal of 50 percent, which means Imperial County must divert 50 percent of the waste generated within its jurisdiction.

All residents of Imperial County, inclusive of all District residents, can independently dispose of solid waste at the Salton City Landfill. The Salton City Landfill is open five (5) days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and operated  by Burrtec.

Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)

The Salton Community Services District is ordered to comply with State Water Resources Control Board Order No. 2006-0003-DWQ Statewide General Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) for Sanitary Sewer Systems.

SSMP Final September 2010

Prevent Sewer Overflows!

Do not dispose paper towels, diapers, medications, disposable mops, other solid objects or pour grease down sinks or toilets.

Pour cooled grease into disposable containers or directly into the garbage if it has hardened.  Use a paper towel to wipe away any leftover oil or grease on pots or pans before washing them.  Grease solidifies when cool and will harden in the sewer line.

Dispose of diapers, plastics, disposable mops and wipes, facial tissue and other solid objects into the trash.  Do not flush any of these down the drain!

 Prevenga Derrames De Aguas Negras!
