The Future of the Salton City Fire Department is in Your Hands!
Due to California wage regulations, the community could be without it's local Fire Department. The California Employment Development Department (EDD) has stipulated that the meager stipends that are paid to our volunteer firefighters are no longer going to be a legal option for the District.
There are 3 choices available to our community:
1. The Fire Department closes.
2. The Fire Department becomes 100% volunteer with NO stipends..
3. The community decides by majority vote to fund the District hiring full-time employees with benefits.
We have scheduled the first of a series of community outreach meetings to get feedback from local residents within the District area. The first meeting will be Wednesday, May 15th at 6 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign War located at 50 Desert Shores Dr., Desert Shores, CA.
Salton Community Services District is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Salton Community Services District
has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and
commercial screen reading software. All features of the website are coded to allow individuals with vision and
other impairments to understand and use the website to the same degree as someone without disabilities. We welcome
feedback and can often resolve issues in a timely manner if they arise.
If you need any special assistance or accommodations:
Salton Community Services District has designated a compliance officer for website disability-related accommodations.
The compliance officer has received training in website accessibility and updates the site in accordance with those best
practices. Contact our accessibility officer to report an issue.
Compliance Procedures and Reports
In addition to testing with users with a wide range of disabilities and coding our website to WCAG standards,
Salton Community Services District regularly scans its website to ensure ongoing compliance, and makes timely
